Asbestos
OHC Environmental Engineering,
Inc. has a vast experience of conducting asbestos surveys. As part of our
protocol OHC Environmental Engineering, Inc. requests documentation on the subject
building including any available plans, previous inspection reports, and
previous abatement records. OHC then reviews the available documentation
and establishes a preliminary survey plan of action based upon the survey
area. OHC Environmental, Inc. coordinates with the client on the survey date
and site access. On the date scheduled for the survey, an OHC Accredited surveyor
visits the site and conducts the survey.
Here is a list of some of OHC's
clients:
Florida
Department of Transportation Districts 2 & 7
Cross Environmental Services

County School Boards
Pinellas County Board of County
Commissioners

Upon notification to proceed, OHC requests survey and other related
documentation on the subject site. OHC reviews the additional survey data
then OHC proceeds to prepare the project.
OHC coordinates with the client a date for the completion
of specification, prepares specification, and arranges with the client the
logistics and conducts the pre-bid meeting.
On the date scheduled for the pre-bid, OHC's project designer visits the
site and conducts the pre-bid meeting which includes:
- Site walk through to verify, and/or modify, the procedures outlined
and the specifications.
- If required, addenda are prepared and issued to all concerned.
- OHC assists the County in the analysis of the bids.

Upon the award of the bid, OHC contacts the contractor and requests
submission of the pre-job submittals as set forth in the specification.
Pre-job submittals must be in order and approved prior to the start of any
work.
OHC schedules and conducts a pre-construction meeting between the
contractor, the County and OHC. The project requirements and procedures as
set forth in the specifications are reviewed. The project schedule,
logistics and special considerations are addressed and resolved. OHC's
representatives at the pre-construction meeting include an LAC and/or OHC's
project manager and the resident project monitor.
The resident project monitor, prior to the start of any work, collects
background air samples in the work area(s) and surroundings to establish
ambient fiber levels. The contractor is then authorized to proceed with the
establishment of the containment enclosure(s).
The monitor inspects the containment(s) to verify the integrity of the
enclosure(s) and the establishment of negative pressure. Upon satisfactory
containment, the contractor is authorized to commence abatement.
The monitor proceeds to collect area samples in and around the work area
throughout the course of the work. The monitor insures that the contractor
maintains safe air levels and is taking personnel samples in accordance with
OSHA.
Upon the notification of the contractor, as the anticipated date for visual
inspection, the monitor notifies the County.
At the completion of the abatement, the monitor conducts a thorough visual
inspection of the work area(s).
Upon passing of the visual inspection, the monitor collects aggressive
clearance samples.
Upon attainment of successful air sample results and final notification, the
contractor is authorized to proceed with project closeout.
